How to Dye a Onesie
How to Dye a Onesie: Feed your baby blueberries. Done!
Okay seriously, this is what you need:

| Clean, White Onesie, just begging to be dyed |

| RIT Fabric Dye (It’s funny because this says Navy Blue but I used orange for this tutorial) |

| Step 1: Fill a bowl (I just use Tupperware) halfway with really hot water |
 |
| Step 2: Add 2-4 Tablespoons of the dye powder and 1 Tablespoon of Salt (More dye for deeper color) |
 |
| Step 3: Add your onesie and poke it with a stick until it’s fully immersed. Then maybe poke it a little more just for kicks. |
 |

| Step 4: After you’ve let it sit about a half hour or more (more for deeper color) and stirred it every 10 mins or so, wash out the dye, wringing it until the water runs clear (which it never really does so just until the water color is really faint.) |

| Step 5: Wash it in the washing machine, warm water with light detergent. Machine dry and voila! Colored onesie! (Is that racist to say?) Voila! Ethnically-diverse onesie! |

Hi! I just recently came across your blog and it’s great! I tried dying a onesie with black dye so I would have a gray onesie and it turned out pretty good — except I have some spots in areas where the color isn’t even. Any idea how I can fix this and what I need to do to avoid the unevenness in the future? Thank you!!
Sounds like you are a) not using a big enough container and b) not stirring often enough. The best results can be achieved by using a large container and not dying more than one or two onesies at once as well as stirring frequently to ensure even coverage. Good luck!
