Goals for 2014

Sharing is caring!

Whew–I just took two weeks off blogging and it was awesome.  My husband also had the two weeks off so we just got to spend all day together, amidst suffering through the World’s Longest Cold, which I still have a little bit of.  So happy new year!  2014 is going to be a great year.  I have many goals for 2014 which I hope to actually achieve.  I’m starting this year feeling a little less overwhelmed by my kids since they are a little older.

My theme of the year:  Step It Up!

I have been whining to people about various problems I have, when all along the solution was for me to just make a little effort.  When you move to a new place, it takes longer than you think to feel at home.  I still don’t feel quite at home, but there are certain things I can do to help me feel more that way.

1.  Service:  It’s so easy to worry about yourself when you are only self-involved.  That’s how I spent most of last year and I want to just get out of my own head.  I’ve already started a little by helping decorate my brother’s new house (although that feels more like fun than service).

2.  Friendship:  I have been bugging my old Utah friends but it would be easier for me to just make new friends where I live.  I’m going to arrange a weekly play group for the moms with young kids in my neighborhood and that will give us an opportunity to bond as friends.  I had a weekly play group in Arizona and I just love the girls who came.

3.  Organize:  For months I have let the clutter pile up while I move on to other projects.  This year I’m going to ditch the clutter and find places for everything.  You’d be amazed at how much space I can clear up just by organizing.  I’m going to take you on this adventure so gear up, friends!

4.  Health:  This being an on-going battle, I hope to drag my husband with me this time.  We both have FitBits and are planning on eating clean with two break meals a week as well as exercising as much as our schedule/energy allows.   You’ll hear updates on this!

There are always things getting in the way of living a great, happy life.  Those things are called EXCUSES.  I am tired of making excuses for the things I don’t like about my life and I’m going to overcome them this year.  Go me!

And of course there are other exciting changes happening this year as well so I will keep you clued in as we embark on another exciting chapter in our lives!  (I know you all are just on the edge of your seats hearing about my life.)

Good luck to us all in our 2014 endeavors!

  3. You go Heidi ! Half the battle is seeing the problem and then you can solve the issues. Cheers to a happier and productive 2014.

      Thanks! Best to you!

  4. I organized a little Mom Scripture Study/Playdate group for every Friday with some of the ladies that live nearby and it has been working out really well. We get a little adult-talk time, I’m more motivated to read my scriptures, and the kids get to play with friends regularly. Win-win!

I’m also excited to see all your “organizing” posts. Maybe I can steal a few more ideas from you since I’ve been getting my pegboard/back hall area more together. Maybe one day I’ll take a picture of it for you, but it’s not nearly as impressive as yours…
