Creating Buttonholes
This tutorial looks trickier than it is…if you have an automatic buttonhole setting. If you don’t have a 1-step buttonhole setting, you’ll have to read the manual because I can’t help you here.
You should read your machine’s manual anyway since every machine is different, but here’s some pictures from my machine to help:
This is what my buttonhole foot looks like; they are ginormous. |

That silver rod with the black thing is the bar that needs to be pulled down. |
Here are my buttonhole options (sorry for a blurry pic, it’s super close up.) |
To start, mark where you want the bottom of the buttonhole to be |
Put your fabric under the foot so you can see the mark and the needle goes down right through the marking. Start your machine and it should do the entire buttonhole without you doing a thing! |
Use your seam ripper to cut the buttonhole |
