Casey McArdle Photography
Roar! {Motivation Poster Caption Here} |
It’s been a long time since I’ve met a photographer who shoots wild animals! Wait, I never have. But Casey from Casey McArdle Photography is an amazing photographer with a true gift for capturing nature, especially animals. She has traveled a lot and taken some great pictures…but since she is from Australia, I’m sure she sees her fair share of exotic creatures! She is a 19-year-old self-taught photographer from Brisbane. Here is her interview…
Seriously, how close did she have to get to the Kangaroo to get such an awesome shot?! |
How did you get started?
I’ve loved photography for as long as I can remember! I guess it all started when Santa bought me an awesome disposable camera one Christmas when I was about 10. I took photographs of everything! Sure, they were all a bit blurry and it was a bit hard to tell what the subject was, but I still loved it. Eventually mum bought a digital camera, and that’s when I really began to explore photography.
How did you learn your craft?
During my final year of high school (2007), I had a short photography subject where we got to explore film photography. Many of us had only ever used digital cameras, so it was so much fun getting into the dark room and exploring how exactly the camera works. From there, my interest in photography took off. A year later, I bought my very first DSLR camera…and now I’m in love! Every day brings a new learning experience – heck, I’m still learning!
Wouldn’t this look beautiful in a blue accented room? |
What is your favorite thing about your craft?
I love how a photograph can tell an entire story. There’s no need for words, the story is just there ready to be told. The photographs in my store all tell part of my story – many of the nature themed photographs were taken on holidays with my beautiful boyfriend and there are quite a few photographs in my store that were taken years ago when I was just beginning to explore digital photography. They are all so special to me and it makes me so happy to be able to share these with people all over the world!
Do you have any favorite items you make?
I love making greeting cards with my photographs – but my favourite photograph to date is my “A Gift” Print. I took this particular photograph with our old 6 megapixel camera and spent hours on Photoshop editing it to my liking. I think if I were to take the same photograph today, I could probably edit it the same in under 2 minutes – it really shows how far I’ve come as a photographer!
What do you do during your free time?
My family, friends and boyfriend are number 1 in my life – I wouldn’t be the same person without them =) Having said that, I’m a sucker for reality TV shows haha – but don’t tell anyone! I’m also an avid Sims fan – so I play that a lot with my free time too!
Awww this looks gorgeous – thanks so much!!
