Farmhouse Entry Refresh

Sharing is caring!

It was time to change my entry way.  For the third time.  This year.  I know, I know…I’m crazy.  But sometimes it takes several tries to get a room just right the way you like it.  And now I’ve got myself a real farmhouse entry way!

Here’s how it used to look when I first moved in.  I’m not sure why this picture is so grainy.

Then I changed it to look like this.  It was pretty cute but the bench and rug were starting to bug me.  The rug would not stay clean enough.

I’ve wanted a jute rug for years.  I’m not sure why it’s taken me so long to make the plunge and finally buy one, but I did it.  And I love it.  It’s the perfect farmhouse rug.  It’s not super scratchy and it’s got a great texture and thickness.  It did have a ‘natural’ musty smell for about a week but it’s gone now.

I also wanted a new bench.  My old bench was fine but I never loved it and it just wasn’t me.  So I wanted something with a little more farmhouse character.  I found this beautiful X-back black bench on Walmart.com.  It

Once I got the two new large pieces, I was excited to accessorize it.  I got this really cute industrial style stool from the Better Homes and Gardens line at Walmart.  It is the perfect height for a plant or a side table and works perfectly for this entryway setup.  I added a cute BHG hyacinth woven basket on top which was the perfect little holder for my large glass vase holding a few branches from my Japanese Maple outside.

For the bench, I found this gorgeous herringbone gray throw which I layered with two pillows.  The gentle design and neutral color of the one in back in the perfect layering pillow for the one in front with the phrase.

I added a few hooks above the bench so people can hang their jackets or hats and so I can hang some wreaths and other decor.  It was so easy and fun to switch some things around for fall…and add in a ton of pumpkin accents!

Finally, I threw in this cute galvanized bin for anything else I wanted to store…muddy boots or extra blankets or pillows.  Or in the winter, kids can throw hats and gloves in there so they don’t get lost.  I also love this little space under the bench where people can store their shoes.

I’m in love with my farmhouse entry right now. I feel like it is just the right setting to welcome people into my home. It was so super easy to switch this all out and not very expensive. I love sticking with neutrals because it is so simple to add color in or take it back out for a more classic look. And lately I’ve been love dark neutrals like black and dark gray because they ground a space and draw the eye in.

  1. You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this
matter to be actually something which I think
I would never understand. It seems too complicated and very broad for me.
I am looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!
