Bright Airy Family Room Design

Lately I’ve been dreaming about summer. There’s nothing better than a warm and sunny summer day where you can open the windows and doors because it’s not too hot and a gentle breeze is coming through.
When I built my house, one of the best features of it was all the windows. We bought a north facing lot so we have all the south facing sunshine during the day. And we have a beautiful view so I love to walk out on the deck and imagine that the lake is actually the ocean.
As much as I love my house, I actually have another vision in my mind of my dream family room. It would have a wall of black French doors and skylights with lots of exposed wood beams. I’d put a bunch of my houseplants in there and make it feel like an indoor garden. I’d decorate in natural earth tones and of course make it a farmhouse style. I was inspired by this photo:
